Genesis 1 - The Gist: God makes everything, including humans; first 6 days.
Genesis 1 - The Summary: Day 1 - light and dark; Day 2 - separate heaven from the rest; Day 3 - split water and land, make stuff grow on the land; Day 4 - sun and moon; Day 5 - sea animals and birds; Day 6 - land animals and humans.
Genesis 2 - The Gist: The 7th day - Sabbath. Later, God makes Eden and woman
Genesis 2 - The Summary: Rest on the 7th day, summary of previous 6 days, making the garden of Eden (and 4 rivers - Pishon, Gihon, Tigris, Euphrates), naming the animals. God wants man to have a companion, looks through all the animals, then makes the woman from man's rib.
